Russia and China are strategic partners like the United States and Europe, together but not mixed. It is a momentary tension where all the parties who govern the agreements are interested and therefore also take common orientations. In this aspect, China and Russia they have taken the same path with hardware and software: they will stop using Western products, where the first change is to linuxand then… Everything becomes more interesting.
The world situation does not help the world to continue to globalize, in fact, we have been talking for more than a year about de-globalization, which in this sector that surrounds us is undoubtedly a fact. Russia and China are the best example of this for two different reasons.
The blockade of Russia and the need to move forward
Russia is a country that for almost 30 years has focused on the sale, export and creation of first-class military weapons, but in terms of material or adjacent technologies, it has not lived up to it and today it is far behind, maybe too much. Plans include bolstering its semiconductor companies and designing new chips that can, at least, support its infrastructure without relying on the United States or Europe.
While between the creation of these chips, systems that used Windows will be replaced by Linux in a customized version that will logically have Unix as its base. He’s talking about AstraLinux as such, based on Debian and should reach the military first, then all branches of government. In any case, it is said that in a decade Windows will no longer be present in Russia, not even on consumer PCs, so the threat is very serious.
The Chinese operation, the most ambitious in the world
China has it even clearer. If there are already almost no American services operating in said country, nor social networks or anything like that, the operation of the Asian country is even more ambitious and brutal.
The word is independence and the suffix is technological. China doesn’t want to depend on absolutely anyone and for that they don’t just spend huge sums of money on semiconductors and hardware designs, with the Godson Loongson 3A6000
And it is that China fears that the United States will take control of software as it has done with hardware because of Microsoft’s movements. Therefore, you want to create a OS completely from scratchalthough in the meantime they will start from a version of Linux to definitely move on to something custom.
The acceptance of this will focus first on military hardware, which we also know because the military branch has its own chips, both for missiles, drones, planes, submarines and of course for the AI supercomputers they have.
In any case, the USA undoubtedly has a very complicated life, where even the EU plans to start counting certain services and developing its own… Bad times for globalisation.
