Netflix sees no results in its latest strategy!
Things haven’t been good for Netflix for a long time. Given the decline in subscriber share, the company managed to offer more attractive options and, at the same time, to stand out from the competition. Thus, the idea of offering another entertainment option beyond the most well-known was born, with the release of some games on the platform
According to a recent report by analyst Apptopia, Netflix games are a flop among subscribers. And they barely caught the attention of less than 1% of subscribers.since its launch last November.
The gamer option that no one sees
The Netflix Games proposal allows users to play some of the games on their mobile devices. Games are published as individual apps on the iOS App Store, while the full catalog of games, which currently has 24 titles
Securities that are offered at no additional cost, do not include any advertisingadditional fees or in-app purchases included in the games.
As the company then indicated, the games were designed to offer an entertainment option to users, who could enjoy them from one series to another for example, or tempted by the relationship with some of the programs watched.
And it is that, conveniently, Netflix has linked several of the games available to popular programs, such as “Stranger Things: 1984”, “Stranger Things 3: The Game” and an upcoming chess game based on “Queen’s Gambit”. But according to the results of the first months, none of this was enough to attract the attention of subscribers.
For now, Netflix will continue to experiment with its video game options. Although the platform did not specify how much it invests in games, it is known that spent $72 million to acquire Finnish developer Next Games and plans to increase its catalog to 50 games by the end of the year.
