Google is currently rolling out an update to Google Search that should allow gamers to stream video games even faster.
If, like many others, you search for movies or music in Google, you have probably noticed that Google offers you a section in the results with the names of the platforms where said movie or music is available. This function, very useful to better find the work of your choice on the platforms, now also works for video games in the cloud.
Google search opens for cloud gaming
Some users may have noticed that when searching for a game in the most popular search engine, the result now showed multiple platform options. This seems to be working in Anglo-Saxon countries right now, which doesn’t seem to be the case in France yet.
The “Play” button next to the name of your quest starts the game directly on the selected service. Currently, Google search recognizes 4 different platforms: Amazon Luna, Nvidia GeForce Now, Xbox Cloud Gaming and of course the home platform Stadia.
As an icing on the cake, Google also indicates when the game you’re looking for is available for free, like Fortnite. Journalist Tom Warren (The Verge) explains:
It is great. Google lets you launch Nvidia Stadia, Amazon Luna, Xbox Cloud Gaming, and GeForce Now games right from search results. The power and ease of cloud gaming in action.
In short, cloud gaming is taking up more and more space.
