The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil in Me is available now November 18, 2022 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC. A terrible collector is also planned for launch. The game tells the story of documentary filmmakers traveling to a recreation of the Castle of Murders, the site where serial killer HH Holmes committed his crimes.
What’s interesting, and this is the whole point of the Gamescom 2022 trailer, is that the gameplay will be much more varied. We won’t just be on “interactive film” with QTEs anymore.
Each character will have more exploration options to run, jump over an obstacle or climb to reach certain areas. It doesn’t stop there. An inventory for storing various items is introduced. For example, there will be a camera, a flash and, if we refer to a passage, an inhaler. If necessary, they can go from hand to hand, be modified or even break. Mechanics closer to a survival horror.
And like a survival horror, The Devil in Me will have puzzles to solve. Riddles that will likely determine the characters’ death or survival.
