Recently there have been plenty of leaks about the supposed new Assassin’s Creed. In this context, an artwork also got online today – and that’s why Ubisoft has now quickly got down to business.
It has long been clear that Assassin’s Creed will continue – but Ubisoft has not officially commented on that to date. Above all, there have been a number of leaks about the new title in the past few days, including its name and setting. After an artwork had leaked onto the internet early today, things seemed to have gotten too colorful for the company.
The consequence: Via Twitter Ubisoft has now officially announced that the new part will actually be called Assassin’s Creed: Mirage. In this context, the artwork was now also officially presented – and that seems to confirm the other leaks of the last few days.
As the artwork suggests, Assassin’s Creed will more or less return to its former Middle Eastern roots. The scene will indeed be Baghdad, because the Palace of the Golden Gate there can be seen in the background of the picture. Accordingly, you will be able to let off steam there with the protagonist Basim, introduced in Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla from 2020. In terms of time, we will probably be moving towards the end of the 9th century.
In this respect, all leaks and rumors seem to be true, so basically there is little doubt that the gameplay will become more action-heavy again and that RPG elements will play a subordinate role again in contrast to the last parts.
However, absolute certainty will not prevail until September 10th. Reason: Then Ubisoft wants to present Assassin’s Creed: Mirage in its entirety when a new edition of the in-house video format Ubisoft Forward is broadcast.
