Halo Infinite: Update: Co-op campaign postponed

Actually, the campaign co-op in Halo Infinite should finally appear at the end of August. So far, however, that has not been the case and everything points to another postponement.

343 Industries has now reacted and added a dev update. Accordingly, the campaign co-op is actually delayed, and winter (specifically November to March) is set as the new target. And now some bad news: the split-screen co-op is being completely scrapped, even though it was promised to fans back in 2017. The resources should be used for other areas of the game, which should follow in winter.

The long-overdue forge mode is also to follow in winter, but no more specific information is available yet. At least the current goal is to start its beta on November 8th. And it gets even worse: Season 3 is also being postponed and is currently scheduled to start in November, with two new maps created with the Forge. Here is the new roadmap:

Halo Infinite’s campaign co-op is becoming a frustration. Even the news that the mode wasn’t available at launch caused a lot of anger among fans. But things haven’t really progressed since then. According to the last statements in April, the end of August was now the target date and a test phase in July actually gave hope.

However, it is now September and there is still no sign of campaign co-op. If you add a statement by Brian Jarrard to a user’s query, everything looks like we’ll have to continue to wait for the mode. “Targets are a peg in the ground at this point, but of course they can still change,” Jarrard said on Wednesday. “We will provide an update tomorrow on the roadmap of what we can expect with Infinite over the coming months.”

At least it seems like we’ll get at least some info later today on how the campaign co-op is going. But that will hardly ease the frustration of the disappointed players. Especially since it is already known that the campaign co-op will not offer matchmaking and players without Halo friends will have to look for support elsewhere.
