How to Upgrade Your Home in Disney Dreamlight Valley

To upgrade your home in Disney Dreamlight Valley, you must progress along the questline of Scrooge.

Scrooge is one of the first characters you’ll meet, located just south of the Plaza, and will introduce you to the ability to sell items through Goofy. Later, it will also help you learn how to craft items and eventually expand your home.

There are three quests in total to complete before upgrading your house. These are:

The screens above will show you the steps required for each quest. Most are simple – the only ones we had trouble with were collecting the Dandelion and Purple Rising Penstemon (we found both in the Meadow – use your collections to see what they look like) and Gems, which you require you to use your pickaxe to mine the coal deposits against the cliff walls for a low chance of dropping one.

Finding gems is also a good way to earn money – useful for future house upgrades…

How to Buy More Home Storage in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Once you complete Dreamlight Valley Economy 101, Scrooge will tell you that he added an elevator to your house to access the room upgrades.

You can find this elevator on the side – and interacting will allow you to increase the size of your rooms and add more floors.

For storage, you’ll want to interact with the roadworks sign outside. This is where you can upgrade your house in general – the first stage of upgrading costs 2,000 coins to give the house a much-needed coat of paint, then the second 20,000 coins for further upgrades, and so on. after. Each will also give you an additional row of storage.

However, if that’s too much work to begin with, there are other, faster ways to get storage upgrades…

Other Ways to Get Storage at Disney Dreamlight Valley

Whether you followed the steps above or just need more storage, there are a few additional methods you can take advantage of:

Improve your personal inventory. It’s probably the most useful in the long run – allowing you to carry more items from your adventures to your home storage. You can do this in the inventory menu by selecting the option at the bottom and then expanding your backpack.

Build a chest. As you progress through the Scrooge questline, you will unlock the ability to craft items. Once you’ve done that, you can craft a chest with 25 Softwood and 25 Stone – two common resources you’ll find on the ground and by smashing rocks with your pickaxe, respectively. Using this will allow you to get two additional rows of storage.

Use the floor of your house. If you don’t mind the clutter, you can just throw all the items on the floor of your house – an Animal Crossing staple. The bigger your home, the more you can store on the lot – a double benefit of a home upgrade!

You are, of course, also encouraged to sell things at Goofy’s stall to earn some cash along the way.
