At Tokyo Game Show 2022, Capcom confirms another platform for the upcoming Resident Evil 4 Remake and confirms a special showcase for next month.
Resident Evil 4 Remake is officially coming to PlayStation 4, with more information about the game in a special showcase that Capcom will host in October. Resident Evil 4 remake has been rumored for years, but Capcom finally made the official announcement of the project last June. After announcing the Resident Evil 4 Remake, Capcom also confirmed its release date as March 24, 2023 and that it would be released for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X.
Capcom made no mention of older consoles, with many assuming the Resident Evil 4 remake would be a proper next-gen-only release. On the one hand, this would mean that Resident Evil 4 Remake wouldn’t be held back by the limitations of older consoles, but on the other hand, it would mean that some players would simply miss out if they haven’t been able to. to get your hands on a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X.
However, Capcom has now confirmed that the Resident Evil 4 remake will also be available for PlayStation 4 at launch. Capcom confirmed this during its Tokyo Game Show 2022 presentation, but stopped short of showing the PS4 version of the game in action. Those interested in seeing more of the Resident Evil 4 remake will have to tune in to the special Resident Evil showcase in October, though a specific date and time for that event was not announced. Dedicated versions of the game for Xbox One and Nintendo Switch were also not announced, which is surprising since the game is coming to PS4.
In addition to confirming the Resident Evil 4 remake for PS4 at the Tokyo Game Show, Capcom also gave fans a reminder about some of the other new content coming their survival horror franchise’s way. Headlining this upcoming content is the Resident Evil Village DLC which will be released on October 28. The Winters expansion for Resident Evil Village will add the Shadows of Rose story, an optional third-person mode to the base game, and new characters to the Mercenaries mode.
Capcom also touched on new ways that Resident Evil fans will be able to play Resident Evil Village in the near future. This includes the cloud version of Resident Evil Village coming to Nintendo Switch, as well as the VR version of the game that is in the works for Sony’s PlayStation VR2 headset. It will be interesting to see what else Capcom has in store for Resident Evil fans once the reveal arrives in October.
