What a great time to be a fan of medieval fantasy stories! While the series The House of the Dragon y The Rings of Power Keeping us up every week for a new episode, the Wrath of the Lich King expansion is finally coming to World of Warcraft Classic. This is one of the best expansions that Blizzard’s long-running MMORPG has known.
Having traveled through Middle Earth and The Seven Kingdoms in Minecraft, I travel directly to the lands of Azeroth. Although two weeks have passed since my adventure in the realms of Game of Thrones, this new adventure through the world of World of Warcraft took place the same night.
Azeroth in Minecraft: not as wonderful as the original, but just as impressive
after exploring the seven kingdoms in Minecraft thanks to a sweet tribute of snacks and energy drinks, we decided to order some dinner and continue traveling through different worlds in Minecraft. He told me that he also had access to a server that recreates the land of Azeroth of World of Warcraft at 1:1 scale.
I am a player of World of Warcraft and I maintain that I doubt that the recreation of this server will be at 1:1 scale, but who am I to doubt it more than I should after seeing the incredible landscapes, cities and other constructions of the server.
Being honest, he interactive map looks amazing. At first sight it has the two main islands: Kalimdor y The Eastern Kingdomswhich are usually associated with Horde and the alliance respectively by the location of the capitals of both factions: Orc halters y Stormwind. To the north you can see Northrend, the land where the Wrath of the Lich King expansion takes place. The central islands need a bit more work.
Orgrimmar and Stormwind
For obvious reasons, my first stops on the server were Orgrimmar and Stormwind. I will never get tired of saying it with all my love and admiration: the Minecraft community is like a goat. Below you can see a comparative from the side gates of the Horde capital.
The city of Orgrimmar is spectacular and as wild as the real Azeroth. Recreation has taken into account even the aircraft who travel to the Undercity, the undead capital, and other locations of interest. Obviously, many details are missingbut we must not underestimate the enormous work that it will have cost to create all this capital.
I have never really liked the city of Orgrimmar, although I admit that it has something very special. After thinking about it a few times and getting lost, as is customary in World of Warcraft, I set course for the capital of Stormwind. It is a huge medieval city that serves as the headquarters of the proud Alliance.
When I affectionately say that the Minecraft community is on fire, I mean it with proof… and one of the best is the image you’re about to see below: the city of Stormwind in Minecraft.
As I explored the streets of Stormwind, I looked at my friend and said, “Something very important is missing here.“. The veterans of World of Warcraft surely you can guess: Stormwind (City Theme), the Stormwind soundtrack. One of the best WoW themes, epic to infinity and impossible not to sing out loud. If you don’t sing it, you can’t be trusted.
In the image you can see the tower of the magicians (purple), the royal neighborhood (yellow) and the rest of the neighborhoods, including the famous central square in the area with blue roofs. Like Orgrimmar, it lacks many details, but it is a fairly faithful recreation made by someone who has walked through its streets… where I’ve gotten lost a thousand times.
Exploring Azeroth: My Favorite Locations
The expansion Wrath of the Lich King is the most recent event in World of Warcraft, so it was only fair that my next location was Acherus: The Ebon Hold, a necropolis that belonged to the Scourge and is the current headquarters of the Knights of the Ebon Blade. The leader of this floating fortress was The Lich King, although currently (retail version of WoW) it is occupied by another lord.
Once again, the Minecraft community leaves me speechless. It doesn’t seem like much, but you just have to look at the “legs” of the floating fortress to realize the enormous effort it must have cost to build it. Being a high place, its construction must have taken many hours. He left me speechless.
To put some contrast, my next destination was a much more luminous, natural and cheerful place: Thunder Bluff in Mulgore
Can’t you guess what my next destination was? It is not one of my favorite areas. In fact, I hate him a lot because I got stuck in this city with several missions or quests. I speak of Dalaran. Hold on to the chair because the Minecraft recreation of this city is for dipping bread and scraping until there’s nothing left.
Only someone who has built something complex in Minecraft can understand what a headache it must have been to build the city of Dalaran. In case you don’t know, this is a city suspended in the air whose most distinctive feature are its tall towers. Do you know how complicated it is to make towers that are not embarrassing in Minecraft?
My journey had to end in Dalaran. We had been exploring the lands of Azeroth in Minecraft for over three hours, sharing stories of our adventures in the Blizzard game. It was late at night, so we decided to leave it for that night. I had enough entries in my notebook to bring you this amazing experiential.
I hope to be able to take another trip like this very soon… as long as I can go back to shopping for my friend with candy or find someone else to shop for with sweet groceries.
A special mention to my co-pilot for allowing me to test the server to make this experiential. For the rest: what do you think?, do you know another mod pack that replicates or is similar to what you have seen?, are you playing the new expansion of World of Warcraft Classic? I read you in comments.
