How to Get Windup and Scarlet Sand Slate in Genshin Impact
At the start of the ‘Golden Slumber’ world quest, during the ‘Lost in the Sands’ sub-quest, you will come across your first mechanism with a red ring around it and the text ‘You don’t have enough clearance’ when you try to access it. This is due to the fact you need to find Scarlet Sand Slate Gadget first in order to get permission.
To get the Scarlet Sand Slate and the base clearance level that comes with it, you need to progress through the “Lost in the Sands” sub-quest during “Golden Slumber”
You need to go down the elevator under the Dendroculus in the same room as the first release mechanism to continue this quest, then follow the Seelie until you get to Benben.
There is a small puzzle before the Seelie, however, and to solve it you will need an Electro character and a Pyro. Switch to your Electro character first and use one of his Electro abilities to stop the floating Dendro creature near the torch glowing blue.
It will now become a normal torch, and you can switch to a Pyro character to light all four torches in the room to reveal a chest and the mechanism next to the door leading to the Seelie.
After following the Seelie and talking to the group again, ride the elevator nearby and you’ll soon encounter Benben. Take the elevator back down to bring it back to Trizard, and you’ll finally have the Scarlet Sand Slate.

How to Increase Clearance Level in Genshin Impact
Once you’ve followed the above steps to get the Scarlet Sand Slate during the “Golden Slumber” quest, you’ll get your first base level of clearing and can access the Primal Barriers and Plinth of the Secret Rites mechanics while exploring Sumeru.
However, to access more Scarlet Sand Slate puzzles and mechanics, you will need to increase your permission level. To fully increase your clearance level, you must complete ‘Golden Sleep’ and ‘Double Proof’ as part of the “Old Notes and New Friends” world quests.
‘Old Notes and New Friends’ is unlocked after completing ‘Golden Slumber’ and waiting one day in the game, that’s why it is necessary to complete it to get a full clearance level, even if you don’t get no more permission for his last sub-quest “Dreams under the Burning Sand”.
