This week Spotlight hour is all about the sneaky Pokemon, making this the perfect time to catch a perfect Purrfar in Pokemon Go.
Unfortunately Purrloin, and its evolution Liepard, are actively bad in competitive play, and you wouldn’t want to use them in Pokémon Go raids.
Also, the shiny form hasn’t been released yet, which means it’s either an opportunity to hunt down the perfect 4* Pokemon, or look into the special bonus that comes with the Spotlight Hour of this wiik – the double bonus evolution XP.

Purrloin 100% perfect IV stats in Pokémon Go
This week’s Spotlight Hour is a great opportunity to catch a Purrloin with perfect IV stats.
“Perfect” means two things in Pokémon Go, depending on how you plan to use a given Pokémon. First, there’s the 100% Max IV build, which is the 15/15/15 you’re after for your 4* Pokédex, Raids, and Master League. Yet, due to the way CP is calculated using three stats, a perfect Pokémon IV is usually just the best version of itself in the Master League.
Of course, you can’t see a Pokemon’s IV without catching it first, but, with a little research beforehand, you can quickly spot a perfect Purrloin based on CP alone.
If you’re level 30 (or higher), you’ll ideally be looking for the following CP for a perfect 15/15/15 Purrloin:
The wild CP value aligns with your trainer level until you reach level 30, and since the majority of the player base is now above that level, we’ve kept these values for the sake of it. of simplicity. These values will however be different if you are currently below level 30.
Is Liepard good at PVP?
No. No, this is not the case. The only one you could really consider running Liepard in is Great League, and it’s not even one of the top 50 dark-type Pokemon out there. But Liepard might be your favorite Pokemon and you really want to try to make it work. In this case, you are looking at the following move set: Snarl, Dark Pulse, and Play Rough as second charged moves.
This is a perfectly reasonable moveset – it’s spammy and applies a lot of shield pressure – and it even takes into account that we’re choosing not to run Charm like the fast move here, rather than to look at the STAB damage.
The problem is just Liepard’s stats – not everything can be an absolute bomb, and this is a prime example. His defense is too weak to be worth using, as he doesn’t stick around long enough to have any real impact on the game.
If you absolutely insist on running one, a perfect Great League Liepard is a 0/15/14.
A perfect Liepard reaches 1846 CP at level 40, which means he’s just not going to face anything above 2500 CP in Ultra League, and he certainly won’t resist anything above 4000 CP in Master League.
There’s really no tiptoeing around this admittedly cool cat – it’s no good in Go Battle League.
Currently live is the Evolving Stars event, which includes the release of A Cosmic Companion quest steps 5-8 – the Season of Light Special Research Quest. Elsewhere, be sure to use Daily Adventure Incense for the chance to encounter Galarian Articuno, Galarian Zapdos, and Galarian Moltres. There is also a new special research quest – A Mysterious Incense. Finally, don’t forget about new Prime Gaming rewards every fortnight.
Is there a shiny Purrloin in Pokémon Go?
The bad news continues – there is no shiny purrloin in pokemon go. What makes this doubly frustrating is that the shiny will be released next month as part of Safari Zone Singapore on November 18th.
What does shiny Purrloin look like?
As you can see, shiny Purrloin takes on a dark blue hue with purple accents, while the evolved form, Liepard, loses its purple to a more realistic reddish brown.
Thanks to Reddit user Starminx for the handy comparison. Hope you meet one of these brilliants next month!
Other tips for this Spotlight Hour
Besides trying to catch a perfect purrloin in Pokémon Go, there are a few other great reasons to participate in this week’s Spotlight Hour. The vast majority of players who show up for this highlight hour will no doubt do so for the special bonus hour below:
- The best reason is, of course, the double bonus evolution XP run all the time. This gives you the opportunity to collect a lot of XP very quickly, which allows you to increase your trainer level. The best way to do this is to have two beacons in your Pokémon storage dedicated to that time. The first is items you want to evolve and keep – usually powerful Pokemon and Pokemon you need to evolve to update your Pokédex – and items you want to evolve and transfer. This second box should contain all of the 12-candy Pokémon. The search string to quickly find all those items with a rating below 3* is: 0*,1*,2*&10,13,16,265,293,519&!shiny
- If you’re a newcomer, this Spotlight Hour is a great time to collect enough Purrloin Candy to fully evolve this Pokemon and register its evolution, Liepard, in your Pokédex.
- Thanks to the fact that Purrloin is a Dark-type Pokémon, catching a party during this Spotlight hour will add progress to your Dark-type catch bonus medal.
Remember that Spotlight Hour events only last for one hour, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (local time).
If this Spotlight Hour has you shrugging your shoulders, fear not (or fear it if you’re scared of ghosts), because next week’s Spotlight Hour is probably the best we’ve ever had in gaming: Haunter with Stardust double latch! Be sure to clear out some storage space, because you’re really going to want to go all out for this event.
