Nvidia’s new Geforce RTX 4090 is impressively fast, as our test of the new flagship clearly shows, no question. On the one hand, however, the card is so fast that you can definitely question its purchase without a 4K monitor – and on the other hand, it is extremely expensive at over 2,000 dollars. You can find out more about this in the article Graphics card madness: Anyone who hoped that the worst was behind us will be disappointed
.
Fortunately, you don’t need an RTX 4090 to get very high 4K performance. In addition, the prices of the
Graphics cards steadily, also with the release of the RTX 4000 generation and the upcoming release of AMD’s RX 7000 models. This makes RTX 3000 and especially RX 6000 potentially very interesting, as the current example of the Radeon RX 6900 XT, which is the subject of this article, shows.old

A low price that was urgently needed
While the RX 6900 XT cost well over 1,000 dollars during the mining boom and the GPU crisis, it is now available in the region of 750 dollars. A currently running offer at Mindfactory even undercuts this price with 699 dollars, you will find the corresponding card from ASRock on the appropriate Mindstars page
For comparison: Nvidia’s similarly fast RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 models cost at least 800 dollars and 1,100 dollars respectively. Depending on the title and setting, they have certain advantages when playing with ray tracing and support upscaling via DLSS, which is sometimes more or less superior to AMD’s counterpart FSR. But that doesn’t change the fact that the RX 6900 XT has a lot of power to offer, which is usually sufficient for playing in 4K with 60 FPS and more.
Since AMD has good to very good energy efficiency to offer with the RX 6000 generation, which also enables quite efficient operation at manageable temperatures, you can now do a lot right with the RX 6900 XT. From our point of view, however, it is only really worthwhile when playing with a WQHD monitor with a three-digit refresh rate or in 4K.
It is also crucial that your current GPU does not already come (too) close to the performance of the RX 6900 XT. You can check whether this is the case using the following link based on various performance classes with over 60 current and older graphics cards:

What do you think of AMD’s Radeon RX 6900 XT for a price in the range of 699 dollars? A very good offer, still far too expensive or something completely different? Feel free to write it in the comments!
