It turns out there is more Silent Hill Trapped There’s more to the trailer than initially thought, as fans uncover a sneaky secret.
After years of letting fans hang out on anything Silent Hill trying, Konami Finally something new to show, in fact it has more than one project to show. One of them is the incredibly mysterious Silent Hill Townfall, a title developed by indie studio No Code. However, not everything in the trailer is what you can see, according to IGN.
A brief recap of the trailer shows an old portable TV showing all sorts of horrific scenes where a man appears to be talking to someone in an ominous tone. Of course, this is a Silent Hill game, and fans immediately wondered if there was more to this brief trailer that didn’t tell us too much. Also: a secret message.
Reddit user MilkManEx ripped the audio from the trailer, converted it to MP3, then found a suitably obfuscated phrase in the MP3’s spectrogram and shared it on the series’ subreddit. “The heart of this town has stopped now” is the complete message and it only makes me feel a little bit uncomfortable.
Another fan on the same thread noticed that 33 seconds into the trailer, a voiceover sounds like a woman saying, “Wow, is this really Alessa?” The name doesn’t mean much to the masses, but Will be very important for long-time fans of the series.
We’ll have to wait for more from No Code to see if there’s some kind of ARG in the works, but the studio has promised it’ll do something different with the series, so who knows what’s going to happen.
Konami was apparently showing more than Townfall this week, as it also revealed another new game, Silent Hill f, and the biggest (and least surprising) announcement that Layers of Fear developer Bloober Team is remaking Silent Hill 2.
