Originally released in 2007, Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened One is a game inspired by the myth of Cthulhu, the monstrous supernatural being invented by writer Howard Phillips Lovecraft. You play as Sherlock Holmes, the famous private investigator, and investigate a series of mysterious disappearances that appear to be linked to a dark cult. You must put an end to this or face untold consequences…
Ukrainian studio Frogwares announced a remake of the title last July, and despite the dramatic circumstances it’s working under, the project doesn’t seem to be all that badly affected. In fact, the development team brings some news a first gameplay trailer posted on his YouTube channel.
The latter gives a taste of the dark and supernatural places of the awakened, such as the city of London and its Victorian atmosphere, a Swiss psychiatric hospital, the bayous of New Orleans and the Scottish Highlands… We can also see some new investigative tricks available to Sherlock.
Also, we know that this will be remake completely rebuilt under Unreal Engine and will feature a new third-person mode, side quests, and new cutscenes, among other things. And that, although no specific date is known at the moment, the studio is planning a release for February/March 2023 on all media.
