The illuminated Apple logo could return
The illuminated Apple logo was one of the trademarks of MacBook Air and MacBook Pro since 2006. The only change during this time was that the logo was reversed so it’s not upside down when you open the lid of the MacBook.
But in 2016 the shiny logo was replaced with a simple shiny logo on the lid, without any official reasoning from Apple. However, several insiders of the firm have shared their theories in this regard and give hope to those waiting for their return.
Most theories agree that Apple had to stop using the glossy logo on MacBooks to improve the internal structural rigidity of the lid. Since the logo was simply a cutout in the center, it compromised overall durability, preventing possible flexing of the lid and affecting the screen on the other side.
To overcome situations that put devices at risk, Apple has done away with the lightweight design entirely and instead opted for a more conventional shape using a solid metal layer to enclose the entire display chassis. Since then, MacBooks have had a simple logo.
Will the illuminated apple return?
According to a patent recently filed by Apple under the name of “Electronic devices with back-illuminated partial mirror structures”a new system of backlit reflective mirrors will bring the illuminated apple back to MacBooks.
According to the documents, the “new apple” could light up in different colors, depending on the color of the Macand also that it could be something that will be applied in other company devices.
