Despite mixed reviews, everything seems to be record-breaking in Sonic Frontiers.
Sonic Frontiers finds its audience
PC gamers shrugged off criticism of Sonic Frontiers, giving it one hell of a start to the franchise. On Steam, 19,181 people gathered simultaneously versus 11,000 for Sonic Mania, the previous record holder.
A feat that validates the developers’ choices? Director Morio Kishimoto sees this outing as a life-size test:
We look at reviews from critics and players. As you said, we still have a long way to go and we take this very seriously as a global playtest.

The feedback on Sonic Frontiers is therefore under close scrutiny, without us knowing if the Sonic team will take up this formula to correct its shortcomings. In the negative points we had noticed a generic and empty open world, an outdated technique or an extreme repetition in the actual structure of the game.
The success or failure on consoles should also be thrown into the balance because at the moment the only data from Steam does not confirm an overall box of the title.
