Microsoft has unveiled new details about its next-gen Xbox Series X console. The company wants to deliver a "superior balance of power and speed". The console will use a next-generation custom processor with AMD's Zen-2 and RDNA-2 architecture, as Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, writes on the official website.
"With four times the processing power of an Xbox One and the ability for developers to access a GPU performance of 12 (teraflops) – twice the Xbox One X and eight times the original Xbox One," Spencer describes the upcoming Xbox as a "real leap in generation" , Microsoft is now presenting with higher frame rates (up to 120 fps are supported). This confirms the concrete speculations regarding the performance of the console. Above all, larger and more complex game worlds are possible without the frame rate or resolution having to suffer.
Spencer also outlines the variable rate shading of the Xbox Series X. In order to maintain the frame rate, it is no longer calculated every single pixel, but as a group. In this way, the computing power can be minimized while maintaining the image quality. Raytracing, which is becoming an ever larger issue, triggers the next Microsoft console on the hardware side. Spencer thus promises better lighting effects and reflections that are said to come close to photo realism.

At the moment, it looks like Microsoft is going to make a big counterattack after the Xbox One in the current generation lost its connection quite early. According to the current status, Sony has to dress warmly with the PS5. This may be one of the reasons why the Xbox competition is still largely covered.
