As the teaser accompanying the Nintendo Direct announcement suggests, this new video focuses primarily on Peach and her castle. The surprise was somewhat spoiled as a McDonald’s employee revealed its design in advance. The web was also divided on the subject, as her look was too close to the Disney princesses for her liking.
Above all, the interpretation of Anya Taylor-Joy, known from her role in The Game of the Lady, was suggested more than her looks. Another character was revealed, Donkey Kong, played by Seth Rogen. This new trailer also confirms that the Super Mario Bros movie will be full of references of all kinds, including the spin-offs Mario Kart, Mario Maker but also Super Mario Bros 3 with a preview of the Tanuki costume.
First announced seven years ago, Super Mario Bros hits cinemas in France on March 29, 2023. Alongside Chris Pratt and Anya Taylor-Joy, the adaptation will star as Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black will lend the voice of Bowser, and Toad will be played by comedian Keegan-Michael Key. Several official posters have been leaked in the news, suggesting that Pauline will also star in the film.
