Just before the release of the next-gen version of The Witcher 3, CD Projekt Red shows a brief fight of the witcher against a group of bandits. And it looks very different than many may remember. One of the developers reveals what exactly is behind the clip on Twitter.
If you want to know which technical innovations are still hidden in the big update for Witcher, which will be available for free on December 14th, take a look at our FAQ:

Actually just an experiment
You can watch the short clip right here. Geralt takes on a couple of unfortunate bandits who aren’t much of a problem for the experienced witcher:

But why does the fight look so chic in the video? This is probably not only due to the graphics updates of the NextGen update, but above all to a new camera setting that the developers have been working on. As Phillipp Weber from CD Projekt Red explains, it was just an experiment at first, but a quest designer put so much effort into the feature that it’s now part of the next-gen version. Incidentally, it was inspired by first Witcher game.
In contrast to the original, you are much closer to the action with the new camera, which makes the fights seem more intense, but also makes it easier for your opponents to surprise you from behind. Like most features of the next-gen version, you can activate the new camera or use the settings from the original. It is also possible to only use them in certain situations, such as in combat, while riding or exploring on foot.

Not the only change of perspective
A new angle can already change a lot, as the example of the alternative camera for Witcher 3 shows. It’s also not the first time you’ve been able to explore the Northern Kingdoms from a completely different perspective. Because modders have already gone further and let you walk through the world of the witcher in first person:

The Witcher 3 – This is how immersive the role-playing highlight is in the first-person perspective
We tried the mod back then and show in the video above how immersive role-playing can be with it. With the fancier graphics of the NextGen update, that would certainly make a lot. It’s only during the fights that you quickly get sick. Speaking of graphics: The first Witcher should soon shine in new splendor, but as a complete remake. Here you can find out what the editors are hoping for.
What do you think of the alternate camera in the NextGen update? Do you like the way the combat looks with it, or do you prefer to keep things simple and therefore prefer the original? Write your opinion in the comments!
