Game news Far Cry, Judgment… The 22 “free” PlayStation Plus Extra & Premium games for the month of December 2022
After unveiling the Essential program of the PS+ formula, PlayStation now unveils the arrival of 22 additional “free” games for Extra and Premium subscriptions.
Two weeks after revealing the PlayStation Plus Essential games, Sony is once again in the spotlight. The Japanese giant has just unveiled all the games that have just landed in the Extra and Premium formulas of PlayStation Plus. A total of 22 other titles are on the program.
As always, Sony offers to relive several episodes of the same saga, and this time the spotlight is on the Far Cry series. Starting now, players who subscribe to PlayStation Plus Extra or Premium can download three Far Cry titles. We’re talking about Far Cry 5, a game that proposes to subvert the plans of a group of fanatics, but also about its apocalyptic spin-off, Far Cry: New Dawn, or even Far Cry Primal. For those who don’t know, the latter takes place in prehistory. In other words, it’s quite an original proposal.
Another saga is in the spotlight this month of December on PlayStation Plus since, after Far Cry, Sony offers us to find three titles from the Yakuza saga. In fact, from now on it is possible to play Yakuza 6: The Song of Life “for free”, but also Yakuza: Like a Dragon or even Judgment. Good news, note that these last two titles are being offered in both their PS4 and PS5 versions.
Great classics in the program (PS4/PS5 – Premium)
Finally, players who subscribe to PlayStation Plus Premium, the most expensive form of PlayStation Plus, can take home a total of four additional classics. We are referring here to the PlayStation 2 version of Ridge Racer 2, or Heavenly Sword, one of the PlayStation 3 exclusive games, or Pinball Heroes, a PSP game. Fans of the first PlayStation can try Oddworld: Abe’s Exodus.
About the new PlayStation Plus:
What is PlayStation Plus?
The PlayStation Plus is the subscription formula of the PS4 and PS5. Through various offers, you can enjoy hundreds of PlayStation titles, a list of retro games from PS1 to PS3, and even streaming playback depending on your subscription level.
What are the 3 PS Plus offers?
The PlayStation Plus consists of three tiers: Essential ($8.99/month), Extra ($13.99/month) and Premium ($16.99/month). The former offers the same advantages as the old PS Plus (play online, save to the cloud, games included every month, exclusive discounts via the PlayStation Store). The second also benefits from a catalog of around 400 PS4 titles | PS5. And the third, in addition to retro software (PSP, PS1, PS2, PSP), adds remote reading of a selection of games thanks to streaming and – importantly – demos to test a handful of blockbusters.
Who can benefit from free PlayStation Plus games?
Depending on your subscription, you won’t have access to the same games. PlayStation Plus Essential entitles you to the PS Plus Collection (PS5 only) and monthly titles. The perk gives you access to a PS4 Catalog | PS5 of around 400 apps. And with Premium, you get almost 340 retro games, stream PS3 titles and demos.
