In the meantime, it has almost been forgotten that Ubisoft is also working on a large-scale Star Wars title, after all the project has become suspiciously quiet since the original confirmation. However, the work seems to have made progress, because Ubisoft is now looking for playtesters.
After the expiry of a temporary exclusivity that only allowed Electronic Arts to develop games in the Star Wars universe, the popular sci-fi franchise is known to be broadening its horizons. Among other things, Ubisoft has been working since then on a large-scale open-world game in the sci-fi universe – and this is finally making measurable and noticeable progress.
Reason for assumption is the fact that the development team of Ubisoft Massive is now publicly showing signs of life and is now even looking for playtesters for the project. The Swedish studio has been officially busy with the title since January 2021 – and now the first gamers should be able to put their hands on the story-based Star Wars adventure.
In a corresponding announcement via Twitter, Ubisoft Massive is now looking for testers for the game, although the search is very regionally limited. Corresponding play tests should not be processed online, but apparently on site. For this reason, the wanted playtesters should live in Malmö, Sweden.
“We’re looking for playtesters for the Star Wars project! If you live near Malmo, we’d love for you to register,” the tweet said. Interested parties to whom this applies can then register via the official website. It is also a requirement that testers are at least 16 years old, and you are explicitly looking for “gamers of all kinds” – old, young, experts or absolute gaming newbies, everyone should be welcome. There should also be financial compensation for the time used in playtesting.
While players from Germany are unlikely to get their hands on Ubisoft Massive’s Star Wars game, it’s still good news that the project seems to be making good progress. To date, nothing is really known about it, apart from the fact that the game is supposed to be based on the Snowdrop engine. We will of course keep you up to date on further developments – and Ubisoft may finally release official details about the title in the new year 2023.
