Pay-TV provider Sky is taking three channels out of the program – in the foreseeable future. You can read here which channels you will soon no longer be able to switch on and when the time will come.
- Sky will remove the three channels Nat Geo Wild and NatGeo from its program from the end of January 2023.
- The reason: Sky wants to rely on original productions from the channels Sky Nature and Sky Documentaries in the future and therefore does not use the content from National Geographic.
- From New Year 2023, the Junior channel will no longer be available on Sky. At the same time, E! Entertainment gone, as previously reported.
Fewer channels on Sky: With the documentary channels NatGeo and Nat Geo Wild, two channels with international productions from National Geographic will no longer be available on the German pay-TV provider from the end of January 2023.
According to media reports, Sky would rather put its original productions in the field of nature and documentaries in the limelight via its relatively new own channels Sky Nature and Sky Documentaries. In addition, the National Geographic brand belongs to the Disney group and license purchases would always be necessary for the broadcasting rights.
The pay-TV channel Junior also flies out of the Sky program. Like the previously announced E! Entertainment in German-speaking countries, the curtain for the children’s channel Junior falls as early as New Year’s Day 2023.
