Game Freak, the developer behind the beloved Pokemon franchise, has released the cult game Pocket Card Jockey: Ride On! on the Nintendo 3DS in 2016, and this afternoon news broke that a new remixed version will be coming to Apple’s landmark smartphone subscription service, Apple Arcade. Pocket Card Jockey: Ride On! will be available on the service on Friday, January 20. You can get notified when the game goes live on Apple Arcade, here
“Pocket Card Jockey was originally a highly acclaimed game on the Nintendo 3DS, and while the basic rules are the same, the racing segments have been reborn in glorious 3D. Players will fight their way to victory by clearing cards with consecutive numbers in quick succession. The more cards they clear, the better their horse’s mood will be — which in turn helps them recharge during the races. The position of their horse on the track determines the difficulty of their solitaire rounds. There are also special tickets that can be picked up if they cross them during the race.”
“These cards provide a number of benefits, including leveling up horses, learning new skills or improving their performance in a race. Once their horse is fully loaded and in the starting lane, they will have to run with all their heart to ensure victory. As players prepare for future races, they will be able to take the beloved horses they have bred on the racetrack and mate them on the farm. The foals they produce will inherit their abilities and become their new partners on the racetrack. Breed generation after generation of racehorses in the quest to win all the biggest, most prestigious races in the world.”
