Do you love flight simulations? Is there room on your bookshelf for a 500-page tome? Then we have good news for you: Our freelance author Mario Donick has just published his book “Learn to Fly” in which he teaches you all about it.
It’s about the Microsoft Flight Simulator, AeroflyFS, X-Plane and FlightGear – you can find the complete table of contents here at Springer as PDF see. You can read all the information about the book in this article.
A textbook for (virtual) pilots
Instead of just uploading a few YouTube videos, what inspired Mario to write an entire book about Flightsims?
Not everyone is good at learning from YouTube videos and tutorials: I think there are still people who prefer to ‘study’ something written in peace. Once you have worked through the book and recreated all the exercises, you can really do a lot with the simulators. I hope people who want to dig deeper, rather than ‘just’ flying with the Xbox controller, will find this book helpful.
But there is more to it than his personal enthusiasm for the subject, as he tells us. In the book he also processes his own experiences, for example in a chapter about his earlier fear of flying – which he only got under control thanks to Flightsims.
When can I buy the book?
»Learn to Fly« was published on January 31, 2023. You can get it as a bound edition (509 pages, 32.99 dollars) or eBook (PDF, 24.99 dollars).
You want to read more from Mario? Then take a look at his special for the 40th anniversary of the Flight Simulator series. This has become almost as long as his book:
