THE Ikelos SMG is a legendary submachine gun in Destiny 2 who returned with Season of the Seraph.
This is the weapon’s second retaliation, last seen in Destiny 2’s Season of Arrivals when it was first reintroduced with random perk rolls.

How to get IKELOS SMG in Destiny 2
During Seraph Season, there are only a few acquisition methods, but after Lightfall – going through past seasonal weapons – Xûr will likely go through various seasonal gear each week, including the Ikelos SMG.
If you’re playing after Lightfall has launched, keep an eye out for Xûr’s wares – and read the god roll you’ll want to watch out for – but if you’re playing during Season of the Seraph, the following explanation will detail what you need to do.
Before you can start the real farm to reacquire multiple copies of the Ikelos_SMG_V1.0.3 during Seraph Season, you must acquire Resonate Stems by completing various activities and opening Seraph Chests during Seraph Season.
You will use them to focus umbral engrams requiring you to have the Vendor Upgrade “Ikelos Weapon Focusing”but if you haven’t unlocked the Ikelos SMG yet, you will instead need to use the Resonate Stems in combination with the Enhanced Resonance Amp in your inventory to create a key that opens a Warmind Node – this is where the Ikelos weapons fall, and you’ll need to get the SMG from here first before you can focus it.
Once you have discovered and unlocked all Warmind nodes, you will no longer need to use the Resonance Amplifier, and it will give a prompt as shown in the image below. This means you can skip straight to focusing Umbral Engrams.
You’ll instead spend excess Resonance Rods at the Exo Frame vendor in the HELM to focus Umbral Engram content if you want to keep looking for drops from the Ikelos SMG – or any of the other three Ikelos weapons.
Keep in mind that to do this, you’ll need the Ikelos Weapon Focusing Seasonal Exo Framework upgrade, as well as the following currencies:
- 1x Umbral Engram
- 50x Legendary Shards
- 30x Seraph Umbral Energy
- 4x resonance rods
You can also focus an Umbral Engram to grant a random Ikelos weapon without needing the seasonal upgrade and at a reduced cost, but it’s a 4 in 1 chance rather than a guarantee.
While you can continue to farm the Ikelos SMG by hoarding resources to focus a back-to-back one, this weapon can also be crafted – and for the rest of the season until Lightfall launches, you can focus one weapon per seasonal vendor every day and be guaranteed a “red-border” Deepsight version of a firearm.
This means that with one objective per day, you can pick up a crafted version of the Ikelos SMG in up to five days – or less if you’ve already progressed.
Craftsmanship is of course our recommendation here as it will allow you to level up and tweak the weapon specifically to your liking, provides freedom of customization so you can experiment with different combinations whenever you feel like switching it up, and allows you to plug in upgraded versions of each perk.
Also, there’s no mention yet of what will happen to these reward sources, but there are signs that crafting is the only way to maintain such access to these weapons in such a flexible, customizable way. and re-rollable – so it’s a no-brain really!

IKELOS SMG God Roller Recommendation
Making this version of the Ikelos SMG different from its predecessors is not only its updated and renewed perks set, but also the ‘Rasputin’s arsenal‘Original trait found on the four Ikelos weapons reworked for Season of the Seraph.
This original trait partially reloads the weapon’s magazine when breaking a target’s shield – a perk that won’t lead to outright dominance per se, but a nice bonus that will work synergistically with all shielded fighters by the Bow thanks to the damage type of this weapon.
As for what weapon elements can be modded, either through random rolls or crafting, here is our recommended Ikelos SMG roll in Destiny 2:
- Barrel: Smallbore OR hammer-forged stripes
- Magazine: Seraph towers
- Advantage 1: Feeding Frenzy (PVE) / Dynamic Sway Reduction (PVP)
- Advantage 2: Voltshot OR Frenzy (PVE) / Pull the trigger or rangefinder (PVP)
If you’re looking for a versatile gun choice for PVE, we’re going with it. small caliber, a somewhat balanced option in terms of range, stability and increased maneuverability. Stability and recoil are worth watching when it comes to SMGs in general, but thanks to this weapon’s lower rate of fire at 750 rounds per minute, it can be relatively easy to control under sustained fire.
In terms of PVP, Hammer-Forged Rifling is a good gun choice – if you upgrade to this from Smallbore, the Ikelos SMG’s range will increase by 3 and stability will decrease by 7, so choose whichever suits you best. better.
As for the magazine, while preference is of course always a factor, there is an option here that is not only unique to Ikelos guns, but is also a solid choice to consider.
Seraph Rounds providing several bonuses that are usually scattered individually on other magazine selections, including over-penetrating and ricocheting rounds, in addition to improved range and stability.
Although you lose a small magazine size or reload retarder with this magazine choice, this can easily be remedied with your perk choices.
Additionally, you can always increase a specific stat, either by using a +10 boost or working masterfully on the weapon, depending on whether you craft the weapon or rely on random rolls respectively.
When it comes to perks, there are actually quite a few perks to choose from, both for PVE and PVP.
In the first column, we recommend Feeding frenzy for PVE, increasing your reload speed with each quick kill, especially effective on weaker enemies that can be taken down quickly.
When it comes to PVP, you’re going to want consistency in performance, and Dynamic Sway Reduction is the one to choose here thanks to the buffs it gives to accuracy and recoil gained when holding down the trigger.
Alternatively, Perpetual Motion is a good choice if you’re looking for other ways to improve weapon handling, stability, and reload speed, and Killing Wind – increasing your mobility, range, and weapon handling for a short time. duration after a kill – is also a good scream.
Both are good choices for PVP, but also worth considering for PVE, especially in higher difficulty content where it’s less common to get multiple kills in a row with a primary weapon.
As for the second column of perks, there are even more heavy hitters for PVE and PVP.
For PVE, if it’s general weapon effectiveness you’re looking for, Frenzy is the way to go, granting permanent increases to weapon damage, handling, and reload speed after being in combat for a short time.
Alternatively, the fan favorite Voltshot returns here, overloading your weapon after a post-kill reload, causing your next hit with the weapon to “shake” a target – this can have great synergy with Arc subclasses and builds and is quite powerful on its own.
When it comes to PVP, Tap the Trigger grants a short period of increased stability and accuracy on initial trigger pull – an extended time with the perk’s enhanced variant – and this will work in tandem if you have Dynamic Sway Reduction in the first column, providing greater consistency and overall weapon performance in every combat engagement.
Alternatively, Rangerfinder is also a good choice and can be a range increase or a way to balance weapon performance depending on your stat choices.
Truth be told, we’re only scratching the surface with the recommendations above, because the Ikelos SMG has so many top-notch PVE and PVP advantages – it’s one of the most loaded you can get , so we highly recommend aiming to unlock for crafting so you can have fun with all of its different intricacies.
In fact, a roll of benefits that you have access to when first produced is a combination of Feeding Frenzy and Frenzy in the first and second perk columns respectively, so right off the bat you get what is effectively a god-roll!

This is especially vital as at this time there is no concrete confirmation on if and when this weapon might return in this form, although it is not out of the question since weapons are periodically featured and sold by Xur – this said, crafting is still your best bet and worth pursuing while there’s still time.
