Baldur’s Gate 3 round battle system divides fans – but the in-game sex scenes are guaranteed to be played out in real time.
Baldur’s Gate 3 wants to deal with love and sex grown up.
Romances between the main character and NPC companions should not be a pure reward mechanism. In an interview with developer Larian Studios, GameStar also learned that the new 3D engine makes animated cutscenes with bed scenes possible for the first time in the series.
In Divinity: Original Sin 2, such intimate moments were only decorated with text; the players’ imaginations were in demand.
Who can you have sex with at Baldur’s Gate 3?
Love was an important topic in the previous years, in Baldur’s Gate 2 the hero was even able to father a baby and then carry it around in the inventory. For part 3, senior writer Adam Smith promises that all party members and some NPCs in the game world will offer an option for a love affair.
So far, five so-called Origin characters from Baldur’s Gate 3 have been introduced that you can include in your group: three men and two women.

Romance differences in Baldur’s Gate 3 & Dragon Age
While the original Baldur’s Gate developer Bioware also adapted the handling of love relationships and sex scenes in the successor series Mass Effect and Dragon Age together with a cinematic presentation, Baldarian’s Gate 3 wants Larian to be more oriented towards its predecessors. Adam Smith comments:
“We want to make sure that romance feels like a natural extension of the relationship, so you won’t give them their favorite things as a gift. It will only be based on what you did and said. It is not a game that you win . It is something you experience. “
In Dragon Age: Origins, it was actually possible to use gifts to improve relationship status with NPCs like Morrigan. With Mass Effect, on the other hand, the sex scene was built in shortly before the end of each game, which seemed to some players like a kind of reward before the final for choosing the right dialogue options beforehand.

Baldur’s Gate 3: In the camp there is not only a rest
As in the Dungeons & Dragons template, you have to rest at Baldur’s Gate 3 so that your role-playing hero group refreshes spells and loses negative status effects. But if the up to four protagonists plus attachments (in the course of the game join your Entourage NPCs like the storyteller Volo) around the campfire, a lot of the relationships in the game will also be screwed. Adam Smith added:
“Many of the relationships within the group are forged at the camp. When you return from a dungeon or quest, the other characters will have something to say about what you said or did. And sometimes that will make them come closer to you, that they will be more attracted to you – or it will affect the relationship negatively. As with everything else, we want it to feel like a natural extension of their nature. They shouldn’t just be companions. They are real people. ”
Baldur’s Gate 3 will probably be available as an early access version on Steam and Google-Stadia in the first half of 2020. The final release is not planned until 2021.
