In a recent interview with IGN, Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno talked about all the horror and video games that came before the remake of the cult classic Silent Hill 2.

Founded in 2008, Bloober Team is a Polish developer known for horror games like Layers of Fear, The Blair Witch, and The Medium. Now, the team is working with Konami to revive and remake one of the best horror games of all time, Silent Hill 2.

At the 2023 DICE Summit, Piotr Babieno told IGN that he wanted to go beyond the mechanics used in the “walking simulator” games and work on “more complex and complex game mechanics at the level of other giants of the horror genre.” This is where Bloober Team’s previous games have been criticized, so it’s positive to hear that the team is trying to move away from that.

More specifically, Babieno wants Bloober Team “to be known as the studio that defines the future of video game horror.” He went on to say, “We still want to make games that make sense, and we still want to preserve our DNA to tell the stories that matter to us.” story of things.”

Ultimately, it made sense for Bloober Team to be working on a Silent Hill 2 remake, since they had a lot of experience dealing with psychological themes of horror and focused on the atmosphere from the previous games. That said, Bloober Team’s previous work has been weak; Layers of Fear and The Medium are both average, mid-level horror games. They’re fun, immersive, and show a lot of promise, but ultimately lack any aggressively engaging gameplay, if I do say so myself.

Silent Hill 2 is as close to perfect a horror game as we can get, even though it’s pretty old now. I believe that with the right oversight, Bloober Team can really deliver and put themselves on the map as an innovative horror game developer.

When asked by IGN if Bloober Team would consider developing any other Silent Hill games in the future, Piotr Babieno said, “I wouldn’t say never.” That said, Bloober Team’s main focus is Silent Hill 2 and its With the ongoing project with Private Division, this is understandable.

Babieno also referred to the recent outrage Konami has received from gamers, saying, “Those who are in charge of Konami Gaming now, of course I can’t tell you all the details, but I’m sure they do understand how the game works.”

“I do understand that people are a little bit mad at Konami for what happened in the past, but I would say, give them time because they do know what they’re doing,” concluded Babieno.

I sincerely hope that Piotr Babieno of Bloober Team is right, because there is nothing more shameful than seeing Silent Hill officially kicked to the curb. Ultimately, if Bloober Team succeeds, this could be the greatest Silent Hill revival since… well… before Silent Hill was mothballed.
