In the course of the soon to be released sequel “Spider-Man: Across The Spiderverse”, publisher Sony has come up with something special: the film’s announcement trailer contains a telephone number and fans are asked to write it via WhatsApp in order to hear the ominous “Spider to join.
According to Dexerto After making contact, you get a variation of the following two answers: “The Spider Society is now recruiting. Would you be a good fit to travel across the Spider-Verse with us?”, and: “A representative will be in touch soon when your application has been reviewed.” Small but important side note: The extra is so far exclusive to the US, but the campaign may also be extended to other countries.
Marketing at its best
It is still unclear what advantages you have by joining the Spider community. This is probably a marketing campaign. After joining, fans will probably receive current information about the upcoming blockbuster directly via WhatsApp – such as announcements of new trailers, pictures, posters and more.
