The Xbox fans out there shouldn’t like that: Arkane’s new shooter, Redfall, will run at a maximum of 30 frames per second on the series consoles when it is released. Higher frame rates are supposed to be supported, but only through a patch that the developers want to submit at a later date.
On May 2nd, 2023 the time has finally come, the new shooter from Arkane will be released. However, Redfall is less of a co-op shooter than one might initially assume. You can also tackle the title completely solo if you don’t have any other players at hand. And according to our first impression, the title will be really good!

Xbox Series X/S and the PC are used as release platforms. If you are on the Microsoft console and value high frame rates, you might be disappointed at first. As Bethesda confirmed via Twitter, Redfall will initially only run at 30 frames per second.
If you value 60 FPS, then you have to be patient. Performance mode will be added in a later patch. At release you play in 4K on the Series X, in 1440p on the Series S, always with a maximum of 30 frames per second. This is strange insofar as you consider the minimum system requirements for the PC, which are reasonably solid:
- Operating system: Windows 10 64-bit
- Processor: Intel Core i5-8400 2.80GHz or AMD Ryzen 5 1600
- Memory: 16GB RAM
- Grafik: AMD RX 580 / NV GTX 1070 / 6 GB VRAM
- Storage space: 100 GB available storage space
- Additional Notes: SSD recommended
So let’s wait and see how long it takes Arkane for the patch to be submitted to 60 frames per second. In any case, Redfall faces strong competition when it is released. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor appears just four days before the shooter, and a few days later the next heavyweight is coming with The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. One thing is certain: we won’t get bored anytime soon.
