This is not going to come as a surprise to those who have been following the news about this game since it was officially announced in mid-2020. Following the bad reviews against the trailer, Rocksteady Studios announced that the release of the game Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League has been postponed and revealed what the new date is.
This is the second major postponement for this game that we initially expected to be in 2022. Eventually they said it would arrive in May of this year and now we know we will have to wait until 2024 to play it.
The notice, posted by Rocksteady on the game’s official social mediadice: “We have made the difficult but necessary decision to take the time necessary to make the game the highest quality experience possible for players”.
They also thanked “the community” for their support and patience.
What was the reason for the bad reviews from players against the game trailer of Suicide Squad?
In February 2023, new gameplay videos revealed during a PlayStation State of Play confirmed that Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League would have game-as-a-service elements, including a battle pass. That annoyed the players a lot and they immediately compared it to Marvel’s Avengersanother superhero-based game-as-a-service that failed to sell and recently stopped being updated.
Another element that annoyed players is that all the characters used firearms and jetpacks to fly, which doesn’t fit with characters like Captain Boomerang and King Shark.
Some believe that the postponed release date of Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League it is to remove the elements that caused the bad reviews. This could be difficult considering how integrated they seemed to be with the gameplay.
Why was the game postponed?
The statement only says that the postponement is to make the game “of higher quality”, which is very ambiguous. It is also possible that the time that will be taken is necessary only to polish it, balance it and eliminate ‘bugs’.
