Capcom hosted a street fighter 6 Yesterday featured Lil Wayne as MC and released new information about the upcoming game.
This new information includes details on the World Tour, custom avatar battles, accessibility features, a year one roadmap, and a demo launching today on PS4 and PS5. The demo is coming to Xbox and Steam next week, April 26.
There’s quite a bit of information on display in the display cases, so grab a quick drink and snack before entering.
One of the things on display is a brand new location on the World Tour called Nayshall, which is in a remote corner of Asia. In this single-player story mode, you’ll meet Masters and experience the world with your own custom avatar as you take to the streets of Metro City, Nayshall, and the rest of the world.
Several RPG elements are also detailed. These elements allow you to consume items and food to rejuvenate, gain buffs, or inflict debuffs in combat or at restaurants. As you level up your avatar, you’ll earn skill points to purchase skill trees to further customize your move sets.
The masters you meet have different styles, and you can join them to learn their nirvana. All 18 characters on the stage can participate, and you can also increase the bond with the master by giving gifts and completing tasks. Combine all of these to unlock new cutscenes.
You can also show off your style with custom avatar battles. You can do this by building your character in World Tour, then head to the Battle Hub to join custom Avatar Battles against other players online. Use your avatar with any combination of abilities you’ve learned on World Tour to show off your own personal fighting style.
During the showcase, Capcom announced the addition of accessibility options, such as a sound design that tells you how close you are to your opponent. Features also include notifications about attack height levels, whether attacks are crossed, how much Drive Gauge remains, and more.
For newcomers and experienced players alike, there are extensive tutorials, character guides, and combo trials to give each character a solid foundation.
The third type of control is as good a mix of classic and modern as it is called Dynamic. With it, you can unleash your character’s moves by pressing the auto-attack button and letting the AI assist your attacks and combos.
Street Fighter 6 will also feature an arcade mode, a single-player mode where you can play against the computer and learn more about each fighter’s story. Complete arcade mode with each character to unlock and view artwork in the gallery, and your score can be uploaded to the online leaderboard.
The game also allows you to play against other players or the computer by creating teams of up to 5 characters and customizing the match format to your liking such as single elimination, doubles matches and team matches.
There’s also Extreme Battle, which introduces the set of rules you need to follow, and features like Running Bulls or Capcom’s version of the hot potato. Play in this mode to learn more about the basics of the game.
In Street Fighter VI, you can create custom rooms. The four virtual cabinets located in the room can be set up for one-on-one, extreme battle or training. Custom rooms can hold up to 16 players at a time.
Ranked matches are back, and steps have been taken to ease the pressure of losing games in some ranked matches. First of all, the development team added a one-time downgrade protection function for players of Diamond level and below. Next, rookies will no longer lose league points on defeat to encourage online play. Finally, Iron Gold and Master players will not result in league relegation. Each character also has its own personal level. This means that trying out new characters in ranked matches is easier to pick up.
The game will also introduce a combat damage feature. During combat, characters will sweat, get cuts and bruises, and other battle marks will appear on their faces and clothing. This is only available in selected offline modes and can be turned off in Settings.
Capcom also showed how players can create a club in Battle Hub to play with friends and other players. You can customize your club crest and design uniforms that only your club members can show off.
Year 1 content has also been revealed, featuring four characters. Gale Rashid, who debuted in Street Fighter 5, will return this summer, and AKI will join the lineup in the fall of 2023. Street Fighter 5’s Young Commander Ed will release in Winter 2024, and Akuma will arrive in Spring 2024.
All four characters will be included in the World Tour as Masters at launch, and will also be included in the Street Fighter 6 Deluxe and Ultimate Editions.
Finally, those with a PS4 or PS5 can play the Street Fighter 6 demo right now. If you own an Xbox Series X/S or PC, you’ll have access starting April 26. This demo will teach you the basic combat mechanics in the tutorial, and practice Luke and Ryu’s moves and fighting styles in the character guide.
You can also play through the first few moments of World Tour, where you can experiment with the avatar creation feature. After the game is released, custom avatars can be transferred to the full game on the same platform.
Street Fighter 6 launches June 2 on Steam, as well as on PlayStation and Xbox consoles.
