Who has Android TV has a treasure and also an integrated chromecast on the TV, so you can send the content of all compatible applications in a very simple way, with the mobile and without having to install the application on the TV.
Having Google Cast technology on the TV is very comfortable, although unlike the “real” Chromecasts, here you cannot use solutions such as factory reset when you have a problem. However, there are many other solutions when the Chromecast of your Android TV does not work properly.
Connect to the same Wi-Fi network
Before going into more complicated solutions, it is worth doing a simple check and this is repeatedly the source of the problem: that we have logged in on the mobile to a network other than the television network
Ideally we will need connect to the same Wi-Fi network to send content to the TV using Google Cast technology, otherwise it will not appear in the list of compatible devices. If your router provides two WiFi networks, one 2.4G and the other 5G, it is worth connecting the TV and the mobile to it.
If in doubt, reboot
If in doubt it’s always a good idea to start over, because sometimes it will solve the problem without having to resort to more drastic or effort-intensive measures. This solution will be useful especially if the Chromecast integrated into the TV worked perfectly before and now it does not, despite the fact that nothing has changed.
most tvs they will go into sleep mode when you press the power button, which does not count as a reboot. Instead, press and hold the power button on your controller until you see the confirmation screen asking if you want to power off (sometimes it might say Restart instead). Another more drastic option is to unplug it from the mains for a few seconds.
Check for updates
If the above did not work, it is possible that it is a specific error in the software of the TV. Being an error of such an important function, it is possible that there is an update available that fixes it, either in the TV software or in the Chromecast software. To check for system updates, you will normally need to go to settings and enter Information there Software update.
The application responsible for managing Google Cast technology on Android TV is called Chromecast built-in and it is an application that, like any other, receives updates through Google Play. A recent update may have caused the error, so open Google Play on Android TV to see if an update is available.
Clear cache and data
We talked in the previous solution about checking for updates for the “Chromecast Built-in” app, but we can also try other common solutions when an app is having issues: clear cache and data.
You can do this from the settings, in the section Apps. You will need to view system apps and then search for the app called Chromecast built-in. If even deleting this data does not solve the problem, you can try something more drastic, also available in this section: uninstall updates.
Try sending another content
What if the problem isn’t with the TV and Google Cast, but something else? To verify this, the easiest way is that try sending something else. something you can use as referenceWell, it’s simple, it’s a photo from Google Photos.
You can also try to use another phone to see if sending content to TV via Google Cast still doesn’t work. If it works from another mobile but not yours, then technically the TV could work fine.
