CD Projekt RED already indicated earlier this month that there will be new information about Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty in June. That has now been specified.
Word should have gotten around by now that CD Projekt RED is working on Phantom Liberty, the extensive and only expansion to Cyberpunk 2077. However, there wasn’t much to see, and information about gameplay and content was also scarce.
What is certain is that Keanu Reeves will be making his return as Johnny Silverhand, this time in the illustrious company of Idris Elba, who will take on the role of FIA agent Solomon Reed. Phantom Liberty is said to have the highest budget of any expansion so far, and that’s saying something when you think back to the famous The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Blood and Wine. Apparently, a GOTY edition is also being planned, which will contain the main game and the new expansion.
At the beginning of April it was already hinted that new information would follow in June, which became a bit vague due to the cancellation of E3 in Los Angeles. CD Projekt RED has now confirmed via Twitter that June will really be an exciting month for cyberpunk fans.
Apparently, as part of the Summer Game Fest: Play Days on June 9th and 10th, there will even be an opportunity for press and content creators to play the game themselves. And of course it’s safe to assume that there will be some gameplay at the Summer Game Fest itself on June 8th. But the community shouldn’t miss out either and should have the opportunity to play, but at a later point in time.
So it will be interesting to see what’s in store for us. After the rocky start, CD Projekt RED has been busy updating the game and crafting a next-gen upgrade for a long time, and they recently released the RT Overdrive mode, which brings the game to high-end platforms. Graphics cards with DLSS3 even missed full ray tracing. Apparently, the developers no longer want to give up the technical level that has been reached, because Phantom Liberty is to be released exclusively for PC and the new consoles.
