This week Spotlight hour is all about the Pokémon Vine, making this the perfect time to catch a perfect tangela In Pokemon Go.
Tangrowth, the evolution of Tangela, is reasonable in Pokémon Go, both as a Raid attacker. But since it’s fairly rare to find a Pokemon that excels at both, it should hardly surprise you that it doesn’t excel at either.
Moreover, with the double capture Stardust bonus running alongside this Spotlight Hour, showing off and catching all the Pokemon is always a great use of time on this flavor of Spotlight Hour.

Tangela 100% Perfect IV Stats in Pokemon Go
This week’s Spotlight Hour is a great opportunity to catch a Tangela with perfect IV stats.
“Perfect” means two things in Pokémon Go, depending on how you plan to use a given Pokémon. First, there’s the 100% Max IV build, which is the 15/15/15 you’re after for your 4* Pokédex, Raids, and Master League. Yet, due to the way CP is calculated using three stats, a perfect Pokémon IV is usually just the best version of itself in the Master League.
Of course, you can’t see a Pokemon’s IV without catching it first, but, with a little research beforehand, you can quickly spot a perfect Tangela based on CP alone.
If you’re at level 30 (or above), you’ll ideally be looking for the following CPs for a perfect Tangela 15/15/15:
The wild CP value aligns with your trainer level until you reach level 30, and since the majority of the player base is now above that level, we’ve kept these values for the sake of it. of simplicity. These values will however be different if you are currently below level 30.
Is Tangrowth good at PVP?
As mentioned, Tangrowth is reasonable in both PVP and PVE. In PVE, Shadow Tangrowth is a bit of a beast, although regular Tangrowth is a bit disappointing. As for PVP, both have their place, with Shadow Tangrowth being best for Great League, and the regular version being best for Ultra and Master League.
If you want to give Tangrowth a boost in PVP, you’ll want to run Vine Whip, Power Whip and Rock Slide, which is a decent, spammy moveset that applies reasonable shield pressure. Tangrowth’s biggest problem, of course, is its mono-Grass typing and resulting long list of weaknesses: Bug, Fire, Flying, Ice, and Poison.
This brings us to matches. In Great League, Shadow Tangrowth defeats Water-types, along with Sableye. Losses, meanwhile, come from Trevenant, Altaria, Noctowl, Galarian Stunfisk, and Medicham. While beating Water-types is always a bonus, there are many better Grass-types available in this league.
Tangrowth does a bit better in Ultra League, where he still beats Water-types (including Walrein, impressively) and Cresselia, losses come from Cobalion (obviously), Trevenant, Giratina, Obstagoon and Scrafty.
Oddly enough, Master League is a pretty decent home for Tangrowth, where it’s the sixth best grass type available. You can expect wins against Swampert, Excadrill, Groudon, Gyarados, and Garchomp. Losses, meanwhile, come from Dialga, Giratina, Lugia, Mewtwo, and Zacian.
The season of rising heroes has arrived! The new Grass and Gratitude quest allows you to catch a mythical Shaymin! A new Team Go Rocket quest – From The Shadows – has been released, along with a rework of the Giovanni and Team Go Rocket Leaders rosters. As you continue your Pokémon Go adventure, be sure to battle in the new season of Go Battle League. Don’t forget to take a look at the Remote Raid Pass changes or, if you’ve purchased it, work on the Masterwork Research: Wish Granted quest. Elsewhere, be sure to use Daily Adventure Incense for the chance to encounter Galarian Articuno, Galarian Zapdos, and Galarian Moltres. This incense can also allow you to encounter other rare Pokémon in Pokémon Go.
Is there a Shiny Tangela in Pokémon Go?
Yes, as with all Kantonian Pokémon, There’s a Shiny Tangela in Pokémon Go. Shiny Tangela and Tangrowth have been added in Go Fest 2020.
However, since Spotlight times do not not have an increased shine rate, the chances of finding a shine are the same as if you found it in the wild. You are simply more likely to find one because of the number that appears.
What Does Shiny Tangela Look Like?
As you can see below, Tangela shines its blue vines for the green ones. That’s it – nothing else changes. The same goes for its evolution, Tangrowth. Neither shiny is particularly special, but given the color of chlorophyll, both look best in their shiny forms!
Thanks to YouTube user Critical Slacker for the video showing Tangela’s brilliant evolution.
Other tips for this Spotlight hour
Besides trying to catch a Shiny Tangela in Pokémon Go, there are a few other good reasons to participate in this week’s Spotlight Hour:
- The best reason is, of course, the double capture Stardust bonus run all the time. This gives you the chance to collect Stardust twice as fast as usual, with each captured Tangela giving 200 Stardust instead of the base 100. If the weather in-game is sunny, this adds an additional 50 Stardust (twice the usual 25 ), and this stacks with a Star Piece to give a 1.5x multiplier to all Stardust earned. This means that each Weather Boosted Tangela caught using a Star Piece will be worth 375 Stardust!
- If you’re a newcomer, this Spotlight Hour is the perfect time to collect enough Tangela Candy to fully evolve this Pokemon and enter its evolution, Tangrowth, into the Pokédex.
- Thanks to the fact that Tangela is Grass-type, catching a bunch during that Spotlight hour will add progress to your respective catch bonus medal.
Spotlight Hour events are only one hour long – 6-7pm (local time). Next week’s spotlight hour will be Alolan Geodude with a double catch XP bonus!
Good luck finding a perfect Tangela!
