Mortal Kombat 12 is no longer a secret, but the game remains extremely understated to this day. Ed Boon, creator of the license, just poured fuel on the fire with some pictures.
Mortal Kombat at the age of 30 years. Three decades of gutting by the rules (or not), bloody fights and deaths, each bloodier than the last. A cult fighting game franchise, the best-selling in history street fighter, Guilty gears and other Tekken. Since Mortal Kombat 9, the franchise has taken a serious leap toward literally dominating the genre. Mortal Kombat 11 is the ultimate example, a lavish title, beautiful to die for and even boasting a very solid single player mode. Now the fans are only waiting for one thing, the sequel.
Mortal Kombat 12 has been teased
And the sequel is coming soon. After months of rumors and several small pumps from one of the franchise’s creators, that dear Ed Boon, the game is finally official, or almost.
Mortal Kombat 12 is no longer an open secret as it was Warner’s PSG themselves who voluntarily or unintentionally spilled the beans during a speech. MK12 is coming and should even land this year. At least in the best of all worlds.
That’s on paper, but in reality the game doesn’t exist, although several well-informed figures such as Jeff Grubb claim it’s been in development for several years.
But to everyone’s surprise, it’s once again good old Ed Boon who plays with his fans’ nerves with a short teaser. If he doesn’t tell us, it’s about Mortal Kombat 12it’s hard to think otherwise as the short video wraps up a lengthy thank you sequence from the team to celebrate 30 years of the franchise.
An announcement in the next few weeks?
Unfortunately, we don’t see much except grains of sand falling into an hourglass. Time is once again honored as in MK11 Next to. Coincidence? No, definitely not. Unfortunately, we still have to be patient and content ourselves with theorizing for the time being. Ed Boon told us nothing more than to say that “it wasn’t over yet”. Additionally, several insiders and journalists, including again the well-informed Jeff Grubb, have been proclaiming loud and clear for the past few weeks that an announcement is imminent. It was even said that formalization could take place as early as this month of May. So once again we have to wait to get to the bottom of it.
And you, does Mortal Kombat return work for you?
