Anyone looking for a device for the office or for working at home, it is quite possible that they are no longer thinking of a laptop, but of a tablet. The new devices are already designed to replace PCs, both in hardware and software, and Huawei’s latest launch in Europe goes in that direction.
The new Huawei MatePad 11 2023 launched today for 399.90 dollars is a tablet that comes with a great commitment to productivity. What looks like just another Android tablet, actually pretends replace computer.
As the name suggests, the MatePad 11 2023 is a refreshed version of the MatePad 11 and so the amount of new stuff isn’t too long; Rather than completely revamping the tablet for no reason, it seems Huawei has focused on improving it to appeal to students and young professionals.
New Huawei MatePad 11 2023
As far as hardware is concerned, the big highlight is the new 11 inch screen, which now has a 120Hz refresh rate that will make everything much smoother; this is something you should notice even when just using the interface, but it will be especially noticeable in 3D apps and games. The tablet has an 86% screen-to-body ratio, reducing bezels; this is complemented by the Starlight Sand design and the Cosmic Star Ring camera with a black body for a sleek look. Huawei claims that the front and back are treated to achieve a “sharp and elegant” texture.
Quad speakers with Huawei Listen 8.0 promise crystal clear sound, with AI active noise cancellation to eliminate unwanted sounds in video calls such as mouse clicks and keystrokes. The front camera is 8MP, while the rear is 13MP.
Now why do you say it’s great for productivity? The key is in the new software. The 2023 MatePad 11 comes with HarmonyOS 3.1, Huawei’s Android-based system, with good news such as improved multitasking, allowing you to open multiple windows and work with data between various apps; the process, Huawei says, is a bit like working with a laptop
Pen included for free
Another option is to use the Huawei M-Pencil light pen, which is included for free when you purchase the tablet. With its latency of just two milliseconds, it promises to deliver a pen-on-paper writing experience. In addition, it has interesting functions such as the one that allows you to press the tip of the pencil to switch between a brush and an eraser, or the color capture function, which allows you to transfer a color from a phone or a computer to the tablet. Speaking of which, Huawei also talks about its SuperHub, a technology that connects all your devices to pass files, texts, images and videos, just by drag and drop.
Huawei has also spent time on pre-installed apps, starting with Huawei Notes which is compatible with Huawei M-Pencil. Notes lets you import materials from PDFs and images, and with the stylus you can change brush effects with various functions, such as point highlighting. You can even take photos directly with the stylus and crop them with the lasso tool. Notes can be used in presentations, with temporary marker effects.
