We’ve been impressed with the tiny but hugely powerful Asus Zenfone 9, so it’s looking forward to seeing news start to roll in on what the next generation of Asus flagship phones will bring.
Here’s everything we know so far about the Asus Zenfone 10.
When will the Asus Zenfone 10 be released?
There’s been no announcement from Asus at the time of writing, but the Zenfone range is usually updated at some point in the summer. Here’s when the latest models were launched:
So there’s a good chance we’ll see the Zenfone 10 in the coming months. We spotted a recent rumor that Asus intends to wait until Q3 before launching the new model, which would put it in the July-September window, which means the May-June period could be a little too soon.
How much will the Asus Zenfone 10 cost?
The strongest clue as to the Zenfone 10’s price comes from an Asus website asking people to blind test the phone’s camera. As reported by Android Authority, the terms and conditions of the process, which enters people into a raffle to win the phone itself, state that “each prize has an approximate retail value of $749.”
It is therefore very likely that the Zenfone 10 will cost $749.
But there’s no official confirmation from Asus as to how much the new Zenfone 10 will set you back, so we’re turning to previous models as another guide. Here’s how they were priced:
- Asus Zenfone 9 – $699 / £699
- Asus Zenfone 8 – $629 / £599
- Asus Zenfone 7 – $749 / £569
It’s clear from these numbers that Asus hasn’t quite priced its Zenfone range year-on-year. You won’t fall for the Zenfone 10. With that in mind, expect to pay a similar amount for the new model as you would for the Zenfone 9.
What about the Asus Zenfone 10 specs and features?
We don’t yet know the official tech specs of the Zenfone 10, but there have been some major leaks which, if true, give us a good idea of what Asus may have in store.
CPU upgrade
With the Asus Zenfone now a flagship model, you’d expect there to be some serious silicon inside. This appears to be the case, as reported by GSMArena on a model believed to be the Zenfone 10 that recently appeared on a review site.
This used a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset accompanied by 16 GB of RAM. This may be the best configuration, as the Zenfone 9 offered multiple memory and storage options, with the base being 8GB/128GB and the top-end 16GB/256GB. Other reports have reported that the latter could be increased to 16GB/512GB this time around.
Larger display
A rumor from Android Authority that might not sit well with fans of the compact Zenfone 9 is that the new model might come with a 6.3-inch AMOLED panel. That’s a lot bigger than the Zenfone 9’s dinky 5.9-inch display and would make the chassis taller to accommodate that sort of display, losing one of the Zenfone 9’s best features – its small bezel.
The news can be sweetened by the fact that reports also state that the new panel will run at 120Hz, which should make it silky smooth.
Improved camera
One area where we felt the Zenfone 9 lagged behind other flagships was its cameras. This could however be solved with the Zenfone 10, as a report from Android Police indicates that the 50Mp main shooter of the Zenfone 9 could be replaced by a 200Mp module. There are no aperture or sensor details, but any upgrades would be good and make the new Zenfone more competitive against its rivals.
Larger battery
Several sites have stated that the new phone will come with an improved battery capacity, which is always good news. The Zenfone 9’s 4300mAh cell would make way for a 5000mAh version with 67W fast charging. So not only should it last longer, but you’ll also be able to charge it faster.
That’s all we’ve managed to dig up so far. But check back regularly as we’ll update this article with any new information we discover. In the meantime, take a look at our current recommendations for the best Android phone as well as the best phones coming in 2023.
