It is clear that the trend is take everything on the phone to be able to leave the wallet at home. Who else and who less already has a credit/debit card to pay with their mobile. The same is true with the loyalty cards of many companies and even with the health card of certain Communities.
Now the Community of Madrid, which recently launched an application to carry the disability card on the phone, has started testing another application to scan transit card and being able to access the metro and the bus with your mobile. We explain how you can participate in the pilot.
Requirements and conditions to participate in the test phase
The Madrid Regional Transport Consortium (CRTM) has developed a new application with which you can carry the Multi card on your mobile
His name is ‘Virtual transport card’ and it should not be confused with the ‘Transport Card’ application, which is only used to check the remaining journeys and to top up. With the new application, in addition to the latter, it stores the Multi digital card in the wallet and allows you to access public transport by bringing your mobile closer to the tower or the validator.
Always is on probationbut the Community of Madrid allows any citizen meeting these conditions to participate:
- Have a ph one with NFC and Android 7.0 or later operating system.
- Perform a minimum of five weekly validations.
If you meet these two conditions and wish to participate in the tests of the application ‘Virtual transport card’, you must register in this online form. You must indicate the brand and model of your phone, fill in your information and answer a few questions about your use of public transport.
Once completed and sent, the CRTM will send you a link to download the application. The beta access program is constantly filling up, so you may have to wait to access it.
Once you can download the app and as long as Wallet is installed on your phone, the transport card will be downloaded for free when you register your bank card and acquire the first Metrobus.
During the trial period (which will last about three months), the cost of the card will be free and you only have to pay for the titles you download there. When the Multi digital card is made available to all users, you can continue to use the one you acquired free of charge as part of the pilot.
Of course, keep in mind that during this phase the only title you can acquire is the 10-ride Metrobuswhich has the same validity as in the case of the physical card: Metro de Madrid and ML1, EMT de Madrid, line 500 (Prisei) and lines 601 and 602 (Alacuber).
And another important detail: you must do a minimum of five validations with the virtual card per week. Otherwise, you must communicate it to the email so as not to unsubscribe from the pilot program: [email protected].
If you fail to do so and fail to meet minimum validations for more than one consecutive month, your virtual card will be canceled automatically and, in order not to lose the remaining journeys, you will have to go to a management office to transfer them to a physical card.
