More than three years ago, Square Enix released Final Fantasy VII Remake, the first part of the new edition of the PlayStation classic. Since then, the fans have been waiting eagerly for the second part, which will be called Rebirth. A tweet from the developers now shows: they don’t know exactly when it will appear.
In the field of role-playing games, Final Fantasy VII is more than just a milestone for many games. The title’s iconic status raises expectations that newcomers to the launch of the original PlayStation 1 version rarely understand. After all, the classic from 1997 has aged anything but well, at least on the technical side.

The community was all the more enthusiastic when the remake of Final Fantasy VII was announced. You could even overlook the fact that the new edition was probably split into three parts, the first of which was already released in 2020. Well, a full three years later, we still don’t know exactly when Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth will finally be released.
The developers of Square Enix now have their say via Twitter. However, if you are hoping for a specific date or at least an approximate period of time, you will be disappointed. Because apparently the studio itself doesn’t know exactly when Rebirth is coming.
The tweet reads: “Development is running smoothly and as planned. We are currently working on setting a release date.” This is how Yoshinori Kitase, the producer, is quoted.
At least the work itself seems to be going well. Fans of the series shouldn’t have much time in the next few weeks anyway, after all, Final Fantasy XVI will be released on June 22, 2023, the eagerly awaited next part of the main series. Nevertheless, a date for Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth would be nice.
