Thanks to the efforts of satirist Jan Böhmermann, the Federal Inspection Agency for Media Harmful to Young People checked whether an indexing of the Coin Master app because of gambling-like content. The review is now complete and the result should disappoint some: The BPjM sees no reason for indexing.
The examination of coin master
- Monetizing Coin Master: In Coin Master you build a village, but every action has to be paid. The currency is available at virtual gaming machines. You can only use it five times an hour for free. Then you have to pay real money.
- What was checked for? The testing agency examined whether the games Coin Master, Coin Trip and Coin Kingdom endanger the development of children and adolescents into socially acceptable personalities. This would be the case if the apps promote unrealistic profit expectations and thus lead to a faster switch to "real gambling".
- The result: The BPjM did not see this stock of the apps mentioned fulfilled. As an important reason, the authority states that the visualization of the slot machines in the mobile games has elements that differ from real ones and that the flow of the game is interrupted by other actions. The fact that there are alternatives to the coins was also decisive for the decision.
Since the test center was unable to determine any user behavior that is manifesting in the real world, the spread of the apps mentioned is not restricted and operation can continue unchanged.
Coin Master continues to top the list of top-selling games on Google Play. More than 2.3 million users rated the game, giving it 4.4 out of 5 stars on the Google Playstore. It has also been downloaded more than 50 million times.
