The market for operators in Europe is so competitive that it is no longer enough to offer good deals, give away mobile phones or give good service. More and more customers are looking for suitable add-ons or freebies to their digital life, and now O2 has announced one that can meet the needs of many people.
This is O2 Cloud, a cloud storage service. In other words, it is something similar to Google Drive, Dropbox or Microsoft OneDrive, a service that stores our files in the cloud so that we can access them from anywhere we have an Internet connection. The difference is that it is completely free for users who have a fiber contract.
It has been a surprise outingbecause it seems that the company has not announced it publicly yet, but the O2 Cloud website is already available from Europe, and there is already an application for Android and iOS that can be downloaded from the respective stores, as well as a program for Windows and macOS.
It’s the O2 cloud
O2 Cloud offers up to 500 GB of free storage to its users. The only requirement is that they are a fiber line customer with a bonded mobile line, as shown in Banda Ancha; therefore, it is not available for users who only have a mobile line. It is already possible to create an account in O2 Cloud with the same phone number that we have in O2, to which a verification code will be sent; it means itEach mobile line we have contracted will be able to access a separate account
O2 Cloud seems to work similarly to other cloud storage services, in that it files stay in sync in the cloud, and accessible from the apps or website as long as we have an internet connection. It also works similarly to the storage service already offered by Movistar, O2’s parent company.
To sign up for O2 Cloud, simply download the app or open the website. An important detail to remember if we are going to use this service is that files will be deleted if we unsubscribe at O2, although we have 30 days from the end of the contract to download the files to our devices or transfer them to other cloud services. The files will be retained by the company for up to 60 days in the event of a complaint, and after this period they will be completely deleted.
While 500GB isn’t much today, it will be a godsend for O2 customers, considering it’s free. It remains to be seen whether the company will offer payment plans in the future to increase capacity.
