Payday 3 does a lot better and also brings new impetus to Starbreeze’s Heist series compared to Payday 2.

- The improved police AI – The SWAT units react much more naturally, paying more attention to civilians.

- No more skill trees – Payday 3 dispenses with the rigid skill trees of its predecessors.

- More complex tasks – In a mission in a gallery, you have to find more clues as well as ways to make the robbery succeed.
- buff system – Your skills allow you to generate your own buffs. These Edge, Rush, Grit buffs give you, among other things, 10% more damage on head hits.
- Improved sound – Police officers now pick up footsteps or conversations if they are too close to them and if they find them unusual.
- Cross play and cross save – You will be able to play with your friends no matter what current-gen platform you are on, the save can be transferred.
- Civilians are resources – In the missions you have the possibility to release hostages against time. This gives you a cushion before the police intervene.
- More variations – With new tools, such as the zipline, and changing exit points in the mission, you have different situations when playing again.
- Two new heisters – Payday 3 will add two new heisters to the team. Exactly what these are is not yet clear.
- Crypto currency – In Payday 3, the crypto currency is called “C-Stacks”, which will be thematically a central point in the story.
- Extensive adjustments – You will be able to customize your weapons, masks or clothing even more extensively than in Payday 2.
- negotiation options – Not only hostages may be exchanged for time. Guards may declare themselves helpful.
- Not an old-gen version – Payday 3 is currently only in development for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 and PC.
- engine – First of all, Payday 3 will run on Unreal Engine 4. After release, the team will focus on an update to Unreal Engine 5.
- new York – Payday 3 will take place entirely in New York in the environment of the levels and the story.
