I’m sorry to say, Pikmin fans, there aren’t many of you. The entire series has sold less than 8 million copies, so you can’t expect many people to be that familiar with it. Unsurprisingly, Nintendo released a video titled “Pikmin 4 – Your First Pikmin Adventure,” because it knows there’s a chance you haven’t played any of the games. As someone who hasn’t played the series, I appreciate it!
If you’re familiar with Pikmin, a lot of what’s in the video won’t be very informative to you. It introduced us all to the fun little ones who are Pikmins of all colours. You can do things like throw them (which seems mean), or use your whistle to make them follow you (no, I don’t know why space helmets have a whistle either). Honestly, the video tells you things you probably already know even if you haven’t played it, but there are some really cute cutscenes that don’t seem to be in the game, so you can’t go wrong.
In June, Nintendo held its annual Summer Direct, and we paid the most attention to Pikmin 4. In some good news for Pikmin fans, the first two games are out now on Nintendo Switch, which means you can play the entire series if you haven’t played it before. A demo of Pikmin 4 was also released last week, so it’s also a great opportunity to try out the game for yourself.
It won’t be long before we get the full experience of Pikmin 4, which launches on the Nintendo Switch on July 21st of this year.
