The founder of Pets.com is recognized as the auction champion of this rare Nintendo PlayStation prototype.
Greg McLemore established a pet website as early as the 1990s and was later acquired by Amazon. He spent $ 360,000 to own a very rare prototype Nintendo PlayStation console.
"I'm interested in sharing my passion for games," McRamore said in an interview with Forbes today. "One of my areas of focus is the evolution of gaming, including how early arcade games inspired video games and how early video games influenced later innovation. I believe Nintendo PlayStation fits this focus very well."
Speaking of his purchases, he said, "I don't want this machine just buried in a closet somewhere." McCremore is currently running an online game encyclopedia called Arcade Museum, and now he wants to use him More than 800 coin-operating systems and game memorabilia build a permanent museum.
Amazon bought a 50% stake in Pets.com in 1999, and one year later, the site went out of business after the dot-com bubble burst.
This was jointly developed by Sony and Nintendo around 1992, and is said to be the last prototype remaining of the 200 prototypes, with the other prototypes missing or destroyed. The prototype has a slot for Super Famicom and Super Nintendo games, and a CD-ROM drive for playing discs. When the drive didn't work when it was discovered in 2009, it was repaired and could play music discs.
Many expect the device to cost more, especially since the owner once bid $ 1.2 million for it.
