Samsung does not dare to experiment at one point with the Galaxy S24 either. Fans will probably have to do without a feature that has been expected for years.
The Galaxy S24 is not expected until spring 2024, but Samsung is already busy working on its next top smartphone behind the scenes. However, the development team apparently keeps their hands off one component. We’re talking about the front camera.
In the S23 successor, according to information from the usually well-informed Dutch Fanblogs GalaxyClub the same front camera as in the current model series. Accordingly, all three model variants will again have a 12-megapixel front camera, which is placed in a punch hole in the display.
No front camera hidden under the display
For fans, this means that Samsung again does not dare to experiment and does NOT equip the Galaxy S with a front camera hidden under the display. Corresponding rumors about the Galaxy S series have been around for years. Samsung had fired them up at its developer conference in 2018, when they gave an outlook on the design of future Galaxy phones. One design was called “New Infinity” and showed a borderless display without a visible notch or punchhole.
So far, this design has only been partially implemented in the Galaxy Z Fold series. Here the inner display of the foldable has a front camera hidden under the screen. However, Samsung is apparently not yet satisfied with the quality of this, which is why the technology is not being transferred to other devices. It can be used in the fold, since the device still offers a regular selfie camera when it is closed.
Also interesting…
Even if the big innovation is missing again, there could still be improvements to the selfie camera – but these would then be based purely on software algorithms. Before the Galaxy S24, Samsung will first unveil new products on July 26 in Seoul – which will probably include the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5.
