You know the price of RAM is that they tend to fluctuate over time. There have been times when it was nearly ridiculous and there have been other cases – recently, of course – when its price was so low that it was the right time to buy and upgrade or expand the PC memory capacity. We are now in a position to say, despite our concerns, its price has also increased.
Why is RAM continuing to rise in price?
That a few days ago there was a fire at the Samsung DRAM factory in China is not a sufficient reason for inflation. In fact, in addition to the fact that the fire was gentle and soft without causing serious harm, this increase in the price of chips RAM memory
There are many problems that have occurred in Asian factories in recent times; We all know that Coronavirus doesn't make things easy in China lately. Analysts blame the virus for the price went up higher than expected (expect a 5% increase, but in the end it was 10% and the eye, data, 20% on server memory).
The reason given by analysts is that, in addition to the aforementioned, there is a strong demand and the manufacturers see that their inventories are empty and they can't make chips at the same rate they sell
The price goes up, but it won't shoot
Still, we can remain calm. That variable prices are normal and a 10% increase in the quarter is not something to worry about, as they were expected to rise and simply rise more than expected. In any case, the market price of RAM has not been raised or will do so, so it's still a good time to buy RAM – it may not be as good as a few months ago, but it's still good – because its price is still "cheap."
We can see it in the price of memory kits DDR4-3000 MHz RAM (2 × 8 GB), the best sellers to date (PCPartPicker graphic).
We note that in September 2018 the price was almost due, but from there until the summer of 2019 the price had already dropped. In December of 2019 it reached its minimum, and has since experienced a slight increase (when we find that it is a 10% increase), but very little. The trend continues to rise until at least half this year, but we also emphasize that we can stay calm because there is no prediction that its price will rise higher and return to 2018 stock prices.
