Narcissus and Goldmond: Od Hermann Hessen with Sabin Tambrea and Jannis Niewöhner

"Daffodils and Coins" is a new movie adapted from the classic film of the same name by Herrmann Hesse. Sabin Tambrea and Jannis Niewöhner have convincingly played the protagonists, but the film is rather boring. Learn more in our movie reviews!

Hermann Hesse's film Narcissus and Goldmund has an excellent cast, but the screenplay is disappointing. The reason is a very mild soundtrack and fluctuating quality of pictures and set designs. Sometimes you think of TV movies that ARD or ZDF show on Easter or Christmas shows.

Therefore, "Daffodils and Gold Coins" must be excellent. In the morning, you turn on the TV, and you are still tired, with food everywhere, and then let the TV station that is about to start running. You will be pleasantly surprised and pleased with "Daffodils and Gold Coins", but spent all the money going to the movies? You shouldn't do that!

The rewritten classic of the same name, Herman Hesse, tells the story of a loyal novice narcissus and Abbey student Goldmond. The former is very complete and its future can be seen in the monastery, while the latter emigrates to the world. The two are very different, and friendship develops quickly. But their paths were separate and did not reappear until a long time later. At the same time, the narcissus was the abbot of the monastery, and Goldmond was a lifelike sculptor.

In order to spend more time together, Narcissus decided to have his old friend carve a new altar. However, residents of other monasteries doubt the ground altar and the friendship between the two. It's about friendship, passion, acceptance, finding yourself and religion!

The main characters are Sabin Tambrea (Babylon, Berlin) and Jannis Niewöhner (Battered), both of whom played their roles very reliably. Especially Sabin Tambrea, whose films always show a new look and are one of Germany's most promising actors. But Nivona also fluctuates between mainstream romantic comedies and compelling movie characters, and proves wide-ranging.

Supporting actors include German celebrities such as Emilia Schüle, Jessica Schwarz (Perfect Secret), Uwe Ochsenknecht (I've never been to New York), and Kida Khodr Ramadan (4 blocks). However, if these pictures are reminiscent of the "Cinderella's Three Hazelnuts" TV show, then none of this will help, and if "Daffodils and Goldmond" didn't start in 2020, that's great! In a movie theater, you want to experience rather than superficial entertainment on the TV level, you always want to be and become more people, but this is not the case.

On the stage, "Daffodils and Gold Coins" is still largely classic, with almost no moments of victory. Boredom rarely happens, but despite good actors, you are not crowded. The movie's ambitious presentation actually had a lot of potential, it seemed so meaningless …

The interpretation of the classic Herman Hesse classic is very disappointing! Although Sabin Tambrea and Jannis Niewöhner embody their roles convincingly, the appearance of boring film music and TV movies undermines the overall impression. So you'll figure out a movie that could have been better on TV during the holidays!
