Nintendo's various online services encountered some problems.
Nintendo Switch online, The console's multiplayer game service, and the eShop digital store have been inaccessible for most of the past few hours. Power outages appear to be global.
Nintendo in Europe confirmed that it was aware of the problem and was working on it. The following tweets were posted two hours ago, but players may have experienced these issues to varying degrees since early this morning European time.
The official service status website only apologizes for the news that caused the blackout, but there is no useful update on the progress made so far or when the company hopes the service will be affected.
Unfortunately, there are some issues with our web services. We hope to correct this situation as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience. https://t.co/O9u3MXDZG6

Although Nintendo did not specify, more people are trapped at home due to corona-related curfews and other reasons, so surges in user activity may be the cause of power outages. This is what happened to Xbox Live over the weekend. Other services have witnessed this, E.g. Discord
If things change, we will update this story.
