News culture This sci-fi anime will ruin everything in 2024, fans are waiting for it and are entitled to a surprise
The year 2024 should be a very interesting one for all fans of Japanese animation. Between the ongoing series and all the upcoming new releases, the first half promises to be really busy. Among the most anticipated anime is a literally gigantic work that will appeal to fans of huge monsters and large-scale battles.
Organized by Shueisha in December, Jump Festa 2023 was an opportunity for the Japanese company to showcase a large part of the animated series and manga adaptations published in Weekly Shonen Jump and Shonen Jump+, scheduled for release in 2024. There have been numerous reveals, punctuated by trailers, each more attractive than the last. One of the most anticipated anime of 2024 took the opportunity to remind fans of giant monsters of its existence.

Kaiju #8 in spring 2024
The latest trailer for Kaiju No. 8 was released on December 17, 2023 and has already received more than 400,000 views on TOHO Animation’s YouTube channel. This anime, produced by Production IG (major Japanese animation studios that have worked on Psycho-Pass, Heavenly Delusion and Star Wars Visions in the past) deviates from the tropes of typical monster works produced in the Japanese archipelago and focuses on a protagonist capable of transforming into kaiju (Japanese term for “giant monsters”). This is what the interdimensional creatures in Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim are called.
Kaiju #8 is original a manga written and drawn by Naoya Matsumoto. The paper work has been pre-published in Shonen Jump+ by Shueisha Editions since June 2020, currently contains 11 hardcover volumes (or tankobon), and is still a work in progress at the time of writing. A real success with no fewer than 11 million manga sales so far. Unsurprisingly, Kaiju #8 is being adapted as an animated series with a release window of the Spring 2024 season.
A man who has a job far from his childhood dreams finds himself in an unexpected situation…! As a monster, he tries again to make his life’s dream come true…! – Manga Plus by Shueisha
A spin-off manga is also in the works. As a matter of fact, Shueisha Editions took the opportunity to release Kaiju No. 8 Side-B, the first chapter of which will be broadcast on the online platform Manga Plus from January 5, 2024. If you are fans of the universe, the coming year will be particularly pleasant to experience.
The anime Kaiju #8 will be released on Crunchyroll in France in April 2024.
