Amazon’s fantasy epic is getting even bigger. The Wheel of Time already offers 14 books from the main series, which Prime Video would like to implement in its series of the same name – but that’s not enough for the streaming service, now there are more three films announced. They are supposed to address the prehistory, and a well-known director is already on board for the first film.
You can get a little insight into the world of The Wheel of Time here with the trailer for season 2 of the Amazon series:

The Wheel of Time: First trailer prepares for season 2 of Amazon’s big fantasy series
Who will take the lead?
The Canadian one Director Kari Skogland sits down in the director’s chair. Skogland is known, among other things, for her work on several episodes of The Walking Dead, House of Cards and, most notably, for directing Marvel’s series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier on Disney Plus.
Another well-known person from the Marvel scene is involved in the project: Zack Stentz, who, among other things, wrote the script for Thor and X-Men: First Decision, works here as a screenwriter.
This is what awaits you in the new fantasy film
The first film in the trilogy is called “Age of Legends” and is supposed to be takes place several millennia before the action of the main story. It’s supposed to be about the rise of the Dark One and his victims as the world sank into darkness and war.
Skogland appears in an interview with Deadline Extremely pleased about the opportunity to direct the film for the popular fantasy universe:
My vision is to honor the worldbuilding of Jordan’s masterpiece while peeling back the layers of legend and myth to reveal the flesh-and-blood characters beneath – flawed heroes and villains alike – ordinary people forced to make extraordinary choices meet as their world unfolds.
Unfortunately, when production will begin, which actors are planned and a possible release date has not yet been determined and remains to be seen.
